Schedule of Buda Castle Virtual Reality History Tour
Meeting Point: 23 Lanchid Street Budapest District I, post code 1013 (note: this is in the vicinity of the Tunnel and Funicular, not on the hilltop). The address is the starting point. Please make sure not to miss the beginning of the tour.
Meeting will be followed by a short intro to the use of the VR gear, audio guide options, then the group will head to the Castle District (continuous walk is involved uphill, including stairs). The VR stops during the walk provide insights and new historical layers of what is today and what you see reenacted in front of your eyes as if you were taken back decades and centuries.
The Buda Castle Virtual Reality History Tour begins close to the iconic Szechenyi Chain Bridge in Lanchid Street (no drop ins, kindly book in advance).
The programme will introduce the important milestones of the Hungarian history such as the exciting Middle Ages, the amazing rebellious days of the Hungarian Revolution against the Austrian rule, following the peaceful years and dynamic growth of millennial Hungary, then the tumultuous times of two world wars ripping apart many buildings and bridges in the city of Budapest.
The historical recreation is quite powerful so not recommended for younger children or more sensitive visitors. That said, it is a perfect option for those who dozed off during traditional school classes and history buffs alike.
